About the Role

DoorDash is looking for our next Head of Dasher Design to spearhead the standalone apps for DoorDash drivers – A.K.A. Dashers. Our Dashers are at the heart of the company’s logistics business. Dasher design team makes a massive impact on the millions of driver’s experience throughout the full end-to-end lifecycle, from onboarding, scheduling and delivery to tracking earnings. Our mission is to help Dashers reach their financial goals through flexibility and stability. As DoorDash business grows beyond the restaurant food delivery, Dasher experience needs to accommodate the scalability and complexity, which makes the design challenge very compelling and one-of-a-kind.

The role can be based in the SF Bay Area or NYC, and will manage the designers distributed between these locations. You will report to the Head of Design.

You’re excited about this opportunity because you will…

  • Set the vision for the Dasher design, and define the pragmatic milestones to achieve the vision with the cross-functional team
  • Act as the UX advocate to inform our product and design strategies, and use quantitative data and qualitative feedback to inform the design decisions iteratively
  • Own design outcomes for a wide scope of business and product goals for our Dashers 
  • Champion relationships and work on strategy with cross-functional working teams such as Product Management, Engineering, Research and Operations
  • Partner closely with the rest of the design leadership to build the holistic journey in the complex three-sided marketplace
  • Lead the team to execute the best-crafted and high-impact product that will set the trend in the industry
  • Attract and recruit the best talents who will raise the bar
  • Coach and mentor designers and managers and help them perform at their best and achieve their career goals
  • Build a culture that elevates the team, both performance and morale
  • Establish the operating model that increases the team’s effectiveness

We’re excited about you because…

  • You bring a minimum of 15 years of product design experience, with a minimum of 7 years in team building and people management
  • You have managed a team of 5 or more before, and you’re mastery at scaling the team
  • You have a strong portfolio showcasing the problem-solving skill at a large scale and high design caliber; Please provide a link to your portfolio (and password if applicable)
  • You act as not only the ‘Head of the team’ but also a business owner
  • You’re fluent in the latest product design trend
  • You are an excellent storyteller and proactive communicator
  • You exhibit strong problem-solving skills, a bias for action, owner mentality, and tenacity
  • You inspire us with your strong self-awareness and a 'can-do' attitude
  • Complexity and ambiguity in a fast-paced environment propels you 
  • You are able to work in one of our working hubs in San Francisco, Mountain View or NYC regularly 2-3 times per week, post-pandemic; We have a hybrid working model
  • You can accommodate occasional traveling for team offsites and meetings
  • Prior design experience in the logistics industry is highly desired but not required
